Small Biz Survival in COVID-19 Pandemic

COVID-19 Small Biz SurvivalThe Coronavirus “Stay at Home” order has impacted millions of American (and international) businesses. Unless your company has been deemed “essential,” you are likely already starting to feel the changes to your bottom line. Fortunately, several organizations offer solutions to help you weather the storm. Here are just a few:

  • Small Business Administration LoansSmall Biz Survival in COVID-19
This program, which is part of the $2.2 Trillion stimulus package signed into law last week, offers small business owners with fewer than 500 employees, working capital loans of up to $2 million “to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue.” California has already been declared a disaster zone, so entrepreneurs (even sole proprietors) can apply for assistance. The loans could potentially be converted into grants later, if funds are used for payroll and/or expenses such as business insurance and rent. For more information about this program, click here.

  • Food Delivery Services
Uber Eats offers free food delivery to help support local restaurants. Working at home means eating all three meals without leaving the house. Support local restaurants by ordering in for lunch even if aren’t going stir crazy and need to stretch your legs. Uber Eats offerings include the option of requesting contact-less delivery, wherein drivers leave food on your doorstep. Postmates also offers contact-less, free delivery. DoorDash is offering free gloves to their drivers in addition to free delivery for any size order and contact-less drop-off options.
  • Online Shopping

Small biz survival online shoppingCNBC reports that roughly 90 percent of revenue from most retail establishments are made in their brick-and-mortar stores. But most of those companies have been deemed, “non-essential,” so their doors are closed. To compensate, most retailers are offering discount coupons as incentives to shop. Discounts are necessary because most people feel unsure about their economic future; so they are reluctant to buy anything other than necessities.
